Patent Drawing Standards and Specifications
United States (USPTO)
General Requirements:

Sheet Size: Drawings must be on A4 size paper (29.7 cm x 21 cm).

Margins: Minimum margins are 2.5 cm (top), 2.5 cm (left), 1.5 cm (right), and 1.0 cm (bottom).

Line Quality: Drawings must be executed in black, uniformly thick, and well-defined lines. Color drawings are not acceptable.

Text: Drawings should not contain text except for a single word or words when necessary.

Grouping: Figures must be grouped on a sheet without waste of space, preferably in an upright position.
-
Sheet Numbering: Each sheet should be numbered using two Arabic numerals (e.g., 1/5, 2/5).

Figure Arrangement: Figures should be arranged without wasting space, preferably upright. If not, they should be presented sideways with the top of the figures on the left side.
Flow Sheets and Diagrams:

These must adhere to the same requirements as drawings.

Connectors: Use on-page and off-page connectors for clarity in flow charts.
Reference Numerals:

Sub-components: Use xxxA, xxxB, etc., where xxx corresponds to the reference numeral of the enclosing system.

Placement: Reference numerals within a box must be underlined. Arrows or reference lines must touch the components.

Labeling Figures: Use FIG. X with Font size 14, preferably Arial.
Design Patent Illustrations:

Views: Multiple views are required, including top, bottom, left, right, front, back, and perspective views.

Exploded Views: Permissible to show the relationship or order of assembly of various parts, enclosed in brackets.

Solid Lines: Represent the claimed design features.

Broken Lines: Indicate unclaimed features or environmental structures.
